BCP Council amend Facebook advice over Sandbanks Ferry

SANDBANKS Chain Ferry has hit back at BCP Council after a social media post advised people to “avoid the ferry if you can”.

In a Facebook post ahead of this weekend’s heatwave, BCP Council gave their top tips to “stay as cool as a cucumber” in the heat this weekend.

One of their tips said: “Possible disruption in Sandbanks due to roadworks- avoid the ferry if you can.”

A spokesperson for Sandbanks Chain Ferry said: “We are absolutely shocked and a little bit annoyed they would say that.

“Especially as the roadworks have come to an end.”

The line has since been removed.

A spokesperson for BCP Council said: “Our earlier Facebook post regarding Sandbanks Ferry was posted in error.

“As soon as we realised our mistake we removed the original post and apologised to the operator.”

Other top tips provided by the council include “Try to keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm” and “Do NOT leave children, vulnerable adults or dogs in hot cars.”

The council also put out a warning about barbecue usage, saying: “Please be responsible and have NO FIRES or BBQs near our heathlands or clifftops.

“BBQs are strictly prohibited on our beaches until 6pm and must be disposed of safely.

“Alternatively, please use our electric BBQs located along the seafront.”
