Sri Lankan citizens will elect a new president on July 20, the parliament speaker said in a statement. The country’s current president and his prime minister announced they would both resign on Wednesday, after tens of thousands of protesters stormed their residences on Saturday, angered by the nation’s crippling economic crisis.
