Gary Glitter freed from jail after serving half of 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three girls

isgraced pop star Gary Glitter has been freed from jail after serving half of his 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three schoolgirls, the PA news agency reported on Friday morning.

The paedophile glam rock singer – who had a string of chart hits in the 1970s – was jailed in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls.

Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was found guilty in 2015 of one count of attempted rape, one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, and four counts of indecent assault.

He was freed automatically half-way through a fixed-term determinate sentence. The sex offender will now be subject to licence conditions.
