Magnitude 7.3 earthquake shakes Indonesia

(CNN) — An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 shook eastern Indonesia on Tuesday (local time), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), but no tsunami warning was issued. The movement occurred 118 km north of Maumere, Indonesia.

The USGS said the quake struck at a depth of 76 kilometers in the Flores Sea at 10:20 a.m. local time.

According to the preliminary parameters of the earthquake, it is possible that tsunami waves will occur on the coasts located less than 1,000 km from the epicenter of the earthquake, according to the USGS.
